Yoga 4 Change Internship Program: Meet the Intern Summer 2023

As the summer comes to an end, my position as Yoga 4 Change Social Media Intern also comes to an end. I must admit, I came into this position with zero knowledge of yoga, what Yoga 4 Change is all about, or anything about graphic design or social media aspect. But I came out of this internship with brand-new knowledge that I will put forward in my next internship or career. I learned about Yoga 4 Change and how its practice differs from other regular yoga classes. I also gained new relationships that I’ve made during my time here, and the one I truly valued was my relationship with Bre, who was my mentor at Yoga 4 Change. She took me under her wing, which I couldn’t ask for more, and I truly will cherish my relationship with her and with Yoga 4 Change.

What is something that you enjoyed doing as the social media intern?

There are two things I really enjoyed doing as the social media intern, and those are tabling and graphic design. I enjoyed talking to the people within the community at events and explaining Yoga 4 Change and their missions. I really liked doing the graphic design for Yoga 4 Change because it allowed me to be creative and knowing that people see my designs makes me happy.

What is something that you love about Yoga 4 Change?

What I love about Yoga 4 Change is the people that I got to interact with. Everyone was so welcoming, and they created this relaxing and welcoming presence. I instantly felt like I was part of Yoga 4 Change right there. I also loved that Yoga 4 Change is such a welcoming organization that offered resources to those who are in need and that they bring the community together.

What population do you resonate with most and why?

I resonate with the Mental Health community. Mental health is something I am very aware of and will always be aware of. It is a serious condition that can change your life in a way you can’t imagine. Knowing that Yoga 4 Change provides tools at an early age to process emotions and become healthy and strong on their own is impactful because it will lead them to a happy, positive life.

What is something on your life’s ‘bucket list’ you would like to do/experience?

To travel the world. I want to explore and immerse myself in cultural experiences. The two places I want to visit first are Greece and Rome due to my love of mythology, especially Greek and Roman mythologies. Japan is the third place I want to visit. I honestly can’t wait to experience traveling the world.
