Join Yoga 4 Change for this workshop where you will learn ways to interact with children who have experienced trauma. You do NOT need to be a yoga teacher to participate.
Our workshop will teach participants tools to interact with children from pre-k to 12th grade. By understanding the relationship between the nervous system and body participants can see how yoga and mindfulness support integration and function. Participants will leave the weekend with the tools to help youth connect to themselves as well as their community, experience and learn ways to teach calming breath which develop focus and concentration, learn postures and forms to promote feeling strong and confiden, and learn how to teach nurturing techniques for themselves and students.
This workshop will teach ways to integrate yoga and mindfulness in any setting, while exploring the challenges of teaching in school environments, studios, and community spaces. You will gain practical information relating to setting up new classes, navigating relationships with school districts and schools, managing challenging behavior, maintainging a trauma sensitive approach, and much more.
You will leave this training with a deeper understanding of child development, the capacity and confidence to create lesson plans that meet children’s needs, and the knowledge to teach in a safe, engaging, and compassionate way.
