Yagdesh Harrypersad

Yagdesh joins Yoga 4 Change with a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from the University of Central Florida, and a diverse background in leadership and public service, including his role as a Major and Jail Administrator with the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and a former United States Marine.

Raised by parents who were both devoted yogis, Yagdesh has been connected to the practice his entire life. His relationship with yoga deepened following a heart attack, when it became a pathway to healing, resilience, and transformation. What began as a necessity quickly became his mission to share yoga not only as a practice on the mat, but as a holistic lifestyle for physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

Yagdesh’s work with Yoga 4 Change feels especially meaningful given his past service in the correctional system, where he witnessed firsthand the need for programs that promote healing, self-discovery, and empowerment. He is passionate about creating safe, compassionate spaces where yoga can be a tool for growth and renewal.

When not teaching or studying yoga, Yagdesh enjoys time with his family, woodworking, playing instruments, and singing in kirtans.
