Yoga 4 Change (Y4C) is excited to announce the need to hire a second new Executive Team member! The new position will be a part time position, based in Duval County. Y4C has been awarded funding to scale current Carceral System programming to reach individuals involved in court-ordered services in Duval County. The Fourth Judicial Circuit Court of Duval County includes Veteran Court and Drug Court and the intention of the grant is to reach more people with substance use disorder, reducing overdoses and relapse in the North Florida area. Y4C’s current Program Director of Jacksonville, Shiva Thompson, will take the role of expanding carceral programming and the new hire will manage Veteran and Youth programming in Northeast Florida.
Currently, Yoga 4 Change averages 40+ virtual yoga classes across the state of Florida per week. With the new opportunity adding ten additional classes to the schedule, the organization is looking to ensure program impact is maintained through this expansion. The goal and intention for the new hire will be to maintain communication with current contacts within the Veteran and Youth programming, as well as expand programming to more facilities across Northeast Florida. The new position will require some yoga teaching, therefore the individual will need to hold, at least, a 200 hour Registered Yoga Teacher.
Adding an Executive Team member will grow the Y4C staff to five full time employees and two part time employees, in addition to the approximately 40-50 contracted teachers across the state of Florida. “When I started Yoga 4 Change, I thought it was just going to be me teaching a few yoga classes a week” says Executive Director/Founder, Kathryn Thomas, “I am humbled and grateful for the growth and expansion of the organization and the opportunities that allow us to continue to impact more and more people.”
