Yoga 4 Change Hires New Orlando Program Director
Florida – Yoga 4 Change (Y4C) has expanded to three regions as of 2019, including South Florida, Tampa Bay and Orlando. This month, Y4C is pleased to announce the organization’s new hire to make the sixth Executive Team member. Jamie Ambrosino has accepted the role of Director of Programs for the Orlando region. Jamie has been teaching with Yoga 4 Change since the inception of the organization within the Orlando community. Currently in Orlando, Y4C offers evidence based programming in substance use recovery facilities and studies the impact yoga has on the opioid crisis in collaboration with Boston University and Dr. Danielle Rousseau.
Yoga 4 Change was founded in 2014 in Jacksonville, FL and gained the ability to expand with a grant from the Florida Blue Foundation specific to offering an evidence based curriculum inside recovery facilities. Pre-COVID, the organization was established in two recovery facilities and was hosting one weekly free community class. Due to social distancing and the pandemic, Y4C is currently offering programming in one facility virtually. The goal for the new Program Director position is to establish the brand within the populations served and to increase the number of facilities in which they are subcontracted to offer programming. The vision of Yoga 4 Change is to offer programming to veterans, youth, incarcerated individuals and continue recovery programs across the state of Florida.
Adding an Executive Team member to the Orlando community fulfills the goal of having a Y4C representative in all four regions served. “We are very excited to expand our leadership team” says Regional Program Director, Susie Rokosch, “Growing our team allows us to create additional relationships and establish stronger collaborations and partnerships to fuel awareness of our mission and spread resources to significantly decrease stress and anxiety.” Yoga 4 Change continues to collect data from all classes taught, in an effort to consistently study the impact of the program on all individuals who participate. Jamie Ambrosino was born in New Port Richey, FL and has lived in Orlando for 13 years.
