Yoga 4 Change invites fans to ‘Namaste before Game Day’ with the Jacksonville Jaguars
October 22, 2019, JACKSONVILLE, FL – Football fans are invited to attend the 2019 Yoga Day with the Jaguars on the Dream Finders Homes Flex Field at Daily’s Place on November 19, 2019. ‘Namaste before Game Day’ is in collaboration with locally founded nonprofit, Yoga 4 Change (Y4C). Proceeds from the event will be donated back to Y4C in an effort to sustain the programming proven through research to create change in the community. Y4C offers trauma informed, evidence-based yoga programming to veterans, youth, individuals who are incarcerated and those recovering from substance use. The partnership between the Jaguars and Y4C began a few years ago with the first ‘Yoga Day’ and has continued to grow. This year’s event will be in partnership with the local lululemon Jacksonville store and all four lululemon ambassadors will be teaching including Nichele McDonald, Dan Pascale, Justin Henderson and Kathryn Thomas.
Yoga 4 Change was founded in Jacksonville, FL in 2014 by Founder and Executive Director, Kathryn Thomas. The organization was birthed by Thomas’ personal story, after being medically discharged from the Navy, and has continued to expand via the stories of many others who have been impacted by the tools given through the practice of yoga. This year Yoga 4 Change has expanded to three regions; South Florida, Tampa Bay and Central Florida.
“We are really excited about our growth, both regionally and communally,” says Thomas. “Yoga 4 Change has scaled outside of Jacksonville through community support from organizations like the Jacksonville Jaguars and lululemon. These collaborations are critical in enhancing our ability to impact more regions, more people and create more change.”
lululemon Jacksonville is a community-centered, athletic wear company located in the St. Johns Town Center. The Jacksonville store has been an energetic supporter of Yoga 4 Change for the past 4 years and has hosted numerous events, fundraisers and partnerships expanding the Y4C jurisdiction, both locally and nationally.
A full field of 500 participants is the goal for the event. Tickets to 2019 Yoga Day are $40 and all participants will also receive a ticket to one of the Jaguars’ December home games of their choice.
“Yoga Day has become one of our favorite annual events as it introduces so many new fans to the Jaguars,” said Jacksonville Jaguars Senior Account Manager of Ticket Sales, Anthony Hendricks. “We are honored to host the event again this year and partner with Yoga 4 Change to combine our passion for sports, physical exercise and the city of Jacksonville.”
