Hi everyone, my name is Melissa! I began practicing yoga as a New Year's Resolution in 2015 and was captivated immediately. Something about dripping sweat while feeling relaxed at the same time compelled me to learn more about "this yoga thing." I signed up for teacher training at Yoga Den just 8 months after my first yoga class and graduated as a 200 RYT in April 2016. It is my last year in the Exercise Science program at the University of North Florida where I first began teaching yoga in August 2016.

Teaching my fellow students and a few professors is a jolly good time but my true passion is teaching to underserved youth populations. Psalm 83 tells us to stand up for the weak, for children, and to protect those who are poor and treated badly. Yoga4Change gives children and others who have endured trauma the tools to unlock who they really are and what they are capable of, even when the world tells them otherwise. After 20 short years on this earth I have learned that the only thing constant in life is change, and I can't think of a better kind of change I want to be a part of besides Yoga4Change! :)

There is nothing a down dog can't fix, so I hope to see you on the mat! If not, you can catch me at church, on the beach, doing ACRO yoga, rock climbing, petting English bulldogs, or eating veggies!
